Museum in need of 2011 volunteers
Posted May 12, 2011 By EMC NewsDEAR EDITOR:
Beginning May 21, the canal and museum will be open for business, and the museum needs help to get it ready for the world. There have been lots of changes to the museum this year and we need to clean it up and get ready.
If you are a student who needs to earn your community service hours, we have lots of opportunities for you. You can learn retail experience by working in our gift shoppe, serving coffee and selling items. Dust off your history knowledge and give tours of the museum. Like kids? We have two weeks of summer camps for younger children where high school students are needed to help deliver program and supervise.
Volunteers are needed to clean up, put on art and artefact displays, give tours of the museum, receive visitors at the door, and provide customer service. If you are skilled at fundraising, planning events, creating publications and have experience in advertising, we could use your help too.
For more information on how you can get involved contact Lynn Preston at 613-283-9500 at lynn@realdealstore.ca or Lisa Bell at 613-284-0505 lisa.bell@pc.gc.ca.
Sincerely,
The Rideau Canal Museum
