Mall looking for gently used books

EMC Events - The County Fair Mall kicks off its second gently used book drive Jan. 10. All this will lead up to a Family Literacy Day event, featuring a variety of children's activities, a stuffed animal medical clinic and more.

The special event at the mall is set to take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Jan. 27, with a theme of 'Stuff Your Knowledge'. Younger children are encouraged to bring along a stuffed animal, perhaps one that needs to be examined at the medical clinic and to take part in animal-themed activities.

Books being sought for the gently used drive will be sold during three sale days. Funds raised will go towards new books for the children's department of the Smiths Falls Public Library. The drive runs from Jan. 10 to 17, with sale dates of Saturday, Jan. 22 from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Donations for the gently used book drive can be brought to the former Half Price Books location in the County Fair Mall. Those with a large delivery of used books are asked to call the mall administration office prior to drop off, at 613-283-2418.
