Santa arrives at mall tonight

Posted Nov 19, 2009 By EMC News

EMC Events - Like most years, youngsters and their parents arrived at County Fair Mall on Nov. 19 with the official start to the Christmas season being marked with Santa's arrival. This year though, with a new twist to his arrival, all proceeds from the evening were donated to United Way of Lanark County.

In October, Assistant Manager for RioCan Property Services at County Fair Mall, Marsha Jackson approached the United Way and asked if the organization would be interested in getting involved in the event. With help from Smiths Falls and District Centre for Youth Executive Director Colleen Muldoon and youth from the centre, all three organizations worked together to make the evening a success.

There were pictures with Santa, various workstations, contests, prizes, a bake sale and most importantly a chance to meet with the man of the hour and share just what was on everyone's list.

With Nov. 27 marking the touchdown to the 2009 Campaign, United Way of Lanark County still has money to raise. With more than $140,000 raised to date, the goal of $370,000 is within reach, but requires the help of the community to make it happen.

When you donate to United Way of Lanark County you help to fund 16 Social Service Agencies providing essential services to those in need in Lanark County. Most importantly, all funds raised in Lanark County stay in Lanark County and go right back into your community.
