EMC Lifestyle - Last week the students at SFDCI were thrilled to host their first ever secondary school book fair. The book fair was held in hopes of raising money to buy new books for the high school library, as well as to show the students new books that are available. With prices affordable for all, a wonderful outcome was expected. On Thursday Jan. 19, author John McKenney, was at the book fair reading excerpts from his novel, Eon's Door. This was a great privilege and experience for all who attended.

Two weeks ago, the grade nines and tens of SFDCI participated in the annual Science Fair. With many fabulous projects, it was very hard for the judges to decide on the winners. There was a two way tie for third place between Cassidy Nadeau for her "Banana-thon" project and Nicole MacNevin for her "Altering Time" project. James Levatte and Brad Barr won second place for formulating "The Perfect Snowball". The first place title went to Ben Ireland for building a remote control airplane with rounded wings as opposed to ordinary wings. Ireland stated, "science fair is a great way for people to come up with their own unique ideas to try to help people in their daily lives."

Both the senior and junior girls volleyball teams played PDCI last week. The junior girls remain undefeated and the seniors are tied for the first place title. The junior and senior boys basketball teams also played PDCI. Both the senior and junior boys won. The seniors are undefeated and the juniors are tied for first place. With four victories in one day, it was a good day to be a Redhawk!

It's the time of year for exams! Exams start on Thursday, January 26. Students are encouraged to check schedules posted in the school for their exam days and times. Parents can call the school office for the schedule.
