Lovers meet at the Perth Horticultural Society - book and nature lovers that is
Posted Feb 4, 2010 By Pam PrattEMC Events - The Perth & District Horticultural Society is delighted to welcome Mary Vandenhoff, well-known Lanark environmentalist and owner of the wonderful Nature Lover's Bookshop in Lanark Village, to our meeting on Feb. 9, 2010 at the Perth and District Collegiate Institute Library at 7:30 p.m.
Mary opened her Bookshop in Lanark Village in 2003 which has become a focal point far and wide for all of us with environmental concerns and interests in nature and sustainable living. She has been instrumental in the renovations to the Mill of Kintail, the new trail at the Purdon Conservation Area, the new Mississippi River Heritage Festival and a myriad of other activities that would exhaust most of us.
Mary has planned an informative 'Show and Tell' tour of her wide and exciting array of books and gifts that will appeal to gardeners and nature lovers of all ages, interests and skills.
Topics will span such interests as unusual plants for your Lanark garden to new landscaping techniques, environmental concerns, attracting wildlife to your garden and even what to do with all those Lanark rocks we have in abundance.
A good selection of books and gifts will be offered for sale after the meeting and Mary even has a few surprises planned for us.
So, don't miss this opportunity to be awed by Mary's knowledge and enjoy a book lover's evening browsing through her many books and gifts. Bring a friend too and enjoy a coffee, snack and a chat with Mary.
Membership to the Perth Hort. Society is only $10 per year. You will meet lots of new friends, learn new things and can participate in in-house flower shows, road trips and a couple of parties every year - it's a great deal!
