After suffering a 4-0 shutout loss to the Pembroke Lumber Kings at home Friday night, the Smiths Falls Jr. A Bears took their scoring frustrations out on the last-place Hawks Sunday afternoon at Hawkesbury.
Mike McNamee and Olivier Charette each had three points to pace the Bears to a 7-0 victory. Goalie Matt Jenkins wasn't severely tested but did turn aside all 25 shots fired at him.
The Bears, who led 2-0 after one period and 5-0 after two, had their special teams clicking with the power play going an impressive 4 for 6 while shutting down the Hawks on their six opportunities with the man advantage.
Despite the win, the Bears were unable to gain ground on the eighth and final playoff spot. The Kemptville 73's, who sit 10 points ahead of the Bears, also won Sunday 4-1 over Kanata.
