Police file weapons charge

EMC News - An investigation into a domestic complaint, Jan. 7, 2010, has resulted in charges against a 36-year-old Smiths Falls man. The man is charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and appeared in Perth Court Jan. 8 for a bail hearing. The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

POLICE KEPT BUSY ON CHRISTMAS EVE

EMC News - On Dec. 24, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Smiths Falls Police had occasion to investigate a vehicle on Main Street. As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged a 26-year-old of

30 Gowrie Drive, Kanata, with four counts of driving while disqualified, impersonation and obstructing police. Jeremy Pershaw was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

On Dec. 24, at approximately 8 p.m., Smiths Falls Police investigated a disturbance at a residence in Parkland Court. As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged a 40-year-old of 11 Parkland Court, Smiths Falls, with possession of a controlled substance. Darrell Whan was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

POLICE RESPOND

On Dec. 21, 2009 police responded to a disturbance at a residence on Beckwith Street in Smiths Falls. As a result of further investigation, police arrested and charged Sharon Donnelly, 40, of 1551 Riverside Drive, Ottawa with the following: unlawfully in a dwelling, assault, forcible confinement, resist arrest, fail to comply with her undertaking (four counts), criminal harassment and disobey a court order.

Donnelly was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
